While many on the left have applauded San Francisco 49ers back-up quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s disrespectful protest of the country by sitting, and then kneeling, during the national anthem — there are plenty of people who have disagreed.
“It’s our values. There are just certain things you don’t do. One of them is you don’t dishonor America. This is our country. It is our flag. It is our national anthem, the soldiers, black and white, have died for. You don’t disrespect that.”
Scott hit the nail on the head — there are just some things you don’t do, and disrespecting the country should be one of those things.
Unfortunately, many of Scott’s Democrat colleagues can’t seem to understand this concept — perhaps because their contempt for this nation is too strong.
Missouri Democrat Rep. Lacy Clay was also a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, but his take on the protests was very different when he spoke with The Daily Caller on Friday:
“I think that Kaepernick and any one else has the right to voice their opinions and to share their views — especially in Kaepernick’s case with his fan base on how he feels about the issues that started this and that is how African-Americans are treated in this country. And he doesn’t approve of it and so he is within his right to voice that opposition.”
“They have a right too to express themselves on how they feel about a country that they are putting their lives on the line to defend and they are urging this country to change its policies,” he added, referring to the nation’s military, in which the career politician has unsurprisingly never served. “They should have the right to stand down if they please.”
A black Navy sailor decided to protest the perceived racism in this country by filming herself sitting during the morning colors — which is against military regulations.
People certainly have a right to peaceful protest, but we have a right to remind them that their premise is not backed up by facts and that they are being manipulated by a divisive and destructive left-wing agenda.
