Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton was not happy with GOP rival Donald Trump’s claim that President Barack Obama was the founder of the Islamic State group. She quickly reassured her mindless supporters in a tweet, saying: “No, Barack Obama is not the founder of ISIS.”
That didn’t deter Trump though — he doubled down in an even more ferocious manner on Hugh Hewitt’s radio show Thursday.
“Last night, you said the president was the founder of ISIS,” Hewitt said, according to Breitbart. “I know what you meant. You meant that he created the vacuum, he lost the peace.”
“No, I meant he’s the founder of ISIS. I do,” Trump retorted. “He was the most valuable player. I give him the most valuable player award. I give her, too, by the way, Hillary Clinton.”
“But he’s not sympathetic to them,” Hewitt rebutted. “He hates them. He’s trying to kill them.”
“I don’t care. He was the founder. His, the way he got out of Iraq, that was the founding of ISIS, OK?” Trump said.
The comments from Trump that sparked another outcry from the left came earlier this week on CNBC, while discussing the exit of United States troops from the Middle East.
“That mistake was made. It was a horrible mistake — one of the worst mistakes in the history of our country,” Trump said. “We destabilized the Middle East and we’ve been paying the price for it for years. He was the founder — absolutely, the founder. In fact, in sports they have awards, he gets the most valuable player award. Him and Hillary. I mean she gets it, too. I gave them co-founder if you really looked at the speech.”
Don’t expect Trump to change his mind on that one — and he’d be right not to do so. If it weren’t for Obama’s feckless leadership, the Islamic State group wouldn’t be the powerhouse it is today.
And perhaps, as Trump insisted, not even in existence.
