This is an explosive revelation. Trent Franks is a well-known member of the ultra-conservative House Freedom Caucus. He’s been the sponsor of numerous pieces of legislation to drastically cut down on the size of the federal government.
This news comes as a huge shock to conservatives nationwide. Franks was one of their champions. Now he’s leaving Congress under shady circumstances.

The news report even suggests that Franks was mulling a Senate run: “It is unclear exactly why Franks is stepping down, but one Arizona Republican said there had been rumors of inappropriate behavior. The Republican said the congressman had apparently been making plans to run for Senate in 2012, but abruptly canceled those plans.”
Here’s what the Republican source told the Washington-based publication: “There’s been rumors swirling around him for years, at least in 2012. And if this turns out to be true there won’t be that many people who are surprised.”
Rep. Franks and his office have yet to confirm the report. But with news organizations now digging into sexual harassment claims on Capitol Hill with renewed vigor, it’s awfully suspect that this report emerged now.

Both men resigned after being accused of sexual harassment by multiple women.
Franks has served in the House since 2002. This will bring a decade-and-half-long congressional career to an end.
As the famous 1980s band Queen sang, another one bites the dust.
