BREAKING: President-Elect Trump Refuses to Take Presidential Salary

President-elect Donald Trump proved his dedication to serving the United States of America, even before he was elected its 45th president.

According to The Washington Times, Trump announced that if he were elected president he would not take one dollar of the salary that would accompany the job. Although the comment was made in September 2015, it showed the love and respect for the job that the president-elect had before he even knew he would win the election.

Trump was answering supporters’ questions on Twitter when one user asked him what he would do to minimize student debt and help the homeless and low-income families.

That’s when Trump responded with an astonishing statement.

“As far as the salary is concerned, I won’t take even one dollar,” Trump said. “I am totally giving up my salary if I become president.”

Contrast this with former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who have parlayed their political careers into a vast fortune derived from public-speaking fees and the highly questionable activities of the Clinton Foundation.

Now that he has been chosen as the 45th president of the United States, Trump has yet to confirm whether or not he will forgo his salary. However, he still voices a firm commitment to help others in need.

During his victory speech on the morning of Nov. 9, Trump announced that he would work as hard as possible to help Americans — even those who did not vote for him.

“Now it’s time for America to bind the wounds of division; have to get together,” Trump said. “To all Republicans and Democrats and independents across this nation, I say it is time for us to come together as one united people.”

“It’s time. I pledge to every citizen of our land that I will be president for all Americans, and this is so important to me,” he noted.
