Clinton up 3 points in post-convention poll

Hillary Clinton has a 3-point lead over Donald Trump in a new poll following last week’s Democratic National Convention.

Clinton now leads Trump, 43 to 40 percent, in the Morning Consult poll released Sunday morning.

One week ago, the billionaire led the former secretary of State, 44 to 40 percent.

Pollsters noted that almost one in five voters, or 17 percent, are still undecided, however.

Clinton saw increased support from independent voters and men in the new survey. She also has overwhelming support of young voters.

Clinton is now viewed favorably by 43 percent of voters while 39 percent have a favorable impression of Trump.

Clinton also holds a 5-point lead over Trump when Libertarian party nominee Gary Johnson are factored in. In that scenario, Clinton has 41 percent support, compared to Trump with 36 percent and Johnson with 11 percent.

The poll of 1,931 registered voters, conducted July 29-30, has a margin of error of 2 percent.
