Donald Trump’s first significant interview since winning the election will air tonight on 60 Minutes. I can tell you this, liberals will NOT like some of his answers in this interview.
“What we are going to do is get the people that are criminal and have criminal records, gang members, drug dealers, where a lot of these people, probably two million, it could be even three million, we are getting them out of our country or we are going to incarcerate,” Trump stated when asked about his “Wall” status, via TimesOfIsrael.com.
Now, keep in mind, Trump is talking about the criminals, the bad elements of our society, and no one else.
These are the people that should never have been in this country in the first place. Since arriving illegally, these people have done nothing to convince the American public that they deserve to stay.
Trump went on to explain that he will look into those who are contributing positively to our society, the so-called dreamers, and try to expedite their process towards citizenship.
I will be honest, it upsets me that these illegals will have a quicker path to citizenship when they began their relationship with our country by first breaking our laws. However,0 I also realize there has to be some give and take here to get Liberals on board.
However, moving forward, anyone coming into this country illegally should be treated like a criminal, period. I don’t care if the next coming of Mother Theresa crosses our borders illegally! Even saints have to cross the border LEGALLY.
This was a HUGE issue for me in this election because I realize how many of our country’s problems could be solved if we simply controlled immigration.
If Trump kicks out 2-3 million, that means we will still have close to 10 million (or more) illegals here. They will still be competing with LEGAL Americans for jobs and benefits… and that simply is not fair.
Again, I realize we are not going to get everything we want because, unfortunately, we somehow have to get the Democrats who are in office to support whatever we do. The deal here is to make a concession on the illegal immigrants who are already here, in order to get our borders locked-down moving forward. I will grit my teeth on this, but I am NOT going to be happy about it.
In this interview Trump also addressed the actual construction of the Wall, saying, “There could be some fencing…but (for) certain areas, a wall is more appropriate. I’m very good at this, it’s called construction.”
While Liberals may look at this as a wavering of his position, it is anything but. There are most definitely areas that can be patrolled easier than others, where significant fencing will work. This is just practical, fencing in well-controlled areas brings down the cost of the overall project.
The full interview will air tonight and I very much look forward to hearing what the President-Elect has to say in full.
