Anybody who has ever watched the Super Bowl knows that Anheuser-Busch’s Budweiser beer is a major sponsor of the championship game, but this year the company added a fun contest for fans in addition to their sometimes-great, sometimes not-so-great, commercials.
According to ABC News, the special promotion featured gold-colored Bud Light cans placed randomly in beer packs distributed around the country, with the finders of the golden cans encouraged to submit their names into a drawing to receive Super Bowl tickets for the next 51 years.
Of the more than 37,000 entries Anheuser-Busch received, the chosen winner was a 52-year-old man from Wichita, Kansas, Lyle Randa, who purchased a 30-pack of beer over the Christmas holidays that contained his golden ticket to the NFL’s supreme game — and every other Super Bowl for as long as he is likely to live.
“I just want to say, ‘Thank you’… for the incredible opportunity,” Randa told ABC News. “I’m looking forward to going to the Super Bowl, seeing new cities and new stadiums and it’s going to be a fun ride. It’s a dream come true because I’m a huge NFL fan, football fan and a huge Bud Light fan.”

“We thought it was a scam at first and I said, ‘This is not a scam,’” Randa’s wife, Amy, said. “He is a very kindhearted, loving person. He loves to have fun. He loves the NFL, and he definitely deserves this.”
According to The Wichita Eagle, Randa is still somewhat in shock over his great luck at winning the incredible contest and is looking forward to taking his wife to the upcoming Super Bowl 51 game in Houston.
He is still trying to determine how he will decide among his many friends and family who will get to attend next year’s game with him, and the year after, and the year after that, and so on.
As for the winning can of beer, it will be set in place of honor in his house as a reminder of his great luck.
“That can will never be opened up,” Randa said. “I am going to make a shadow box and put all my Super Bowl tickets and the can in it.”
Randa, who counts himself as a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and Minnesota Vikings, will be cheering on the New England Patriots from the stands on Sunday as an honored guest of Anheuser-Busch.
For the record, six other contestants also won prizes in the Bud Light contest. They each received a pair of season tickets for the team of their choice for the upcoming season.
This guy certainly was blessed to win this incredible contest, and we can only say congratulations and that we hope he enjoys the game.
