President Obama Makes Promise About His Wife Michelle’s Political Plans

President Barack Obama made a bombshell announcement during an interview Friday about his wife, first lady Michelle Obama.

“She will never run for office,” he said while speaking on the radio show Sway in the Morning, according to Time magazine.

“She is as talented and brilliant a person as there is, and I could not be prouder of her, but Michelle does not have the patience or the inclination to actually be a candidate herself,” he continued. “And that’s one thing y’all can take to the bank.”

Obama added that both he and his wife do intend to “be very active in issues” that concern them, including the maintenance of their initiatives, My Brother’s Keeper and Let Girls Learn.

“We’re going to be doing a lot of work,” he said. “We’ll just be doing it a different way.”

While the Obamas’ plan to remain indirectly active in politics likely flustered conservatives, the news about Michelle “never” running for office probably left them quite gleeful.

Republicans have speculated for some time now that the first lady would follow the recommendation of her Democrat supporters, many of whom aspire to see her either become a future senator or president.

A report published late October claimed that she was seeking to run for the Senate in California and eyeing the seat of Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif, whose term is slated to expire in 2018.

Responding to that report Sunday, Feinstein stated that she was “flattered” by the prospect.

“Well, I have no idea what I’m going to be doing in 2018,” she said while speaking on CNN. “That’s four years from now … I’ll make a decision in due time. I’m flattered, if that should be true.”

But it was not true, or so Obama claimed.

Moreover, the first has herself repeatedly claimed in 2012, 2014 and 2016 that she will never run for office, as reported by CNN.
