WATCH: High School Football Team Gives Colin Kaepernick a Lesson in Texas-Style PATRIOTISM

Colin Kaepernick’s anti-flag antics may fly in liberal San Francisco. Down in Texas, however, they do things a bit differently.

In the west Texas city of Midland, a high school football team bucked the trend of disrespect for the flag and the national anthem by coming onto the field holding American flags in unison.

The team at Greenwood High School made the move before their first Friday game after Donald Trump’s election victory, KCBD-TV reports. Each of the players entered the field with a flag held aloft.

Even better, the entrance by the Greenwood Rangers was all caught on video:

And that’s not the half of it. It turned out that the Greenwood Rangers decided to do it during a playoff game, not just a regular season match-up. As anyone who’s visited Texas knows, high school football playoffs are almost as sacrosanct as the Fourth of July or Thanksgiving.

“We are a community here,” Rangers coach Chad Hanna said. “This was a great way to show our support for our country, for the men that have made the sacrifice serving that flag.”

He said that the American flag entrance hyped up his team and the crowd even more than usual.

“They were excited,” Hanna said. “It was an awesome sight. Just spectacular.”

Unfortunately, it couldn’t help the Rangers beat Bushland. The team ended up losing 49-42, putting an end to their season. Hanna is still proud of his players and the impact that they’ve made, though.

“The great thing that has come from this is the amount of support we have gotten from our community and by so many that have seen the video,” Hanna said.

And they should be proud. For this one weekend, a group of high school football players in Texas were even more famous than 49ers quarterback Kaepernick, and for a much better reason. We have no doubt that these young men have an amazing coach and a sense of patriotic responsibility that far exceeds their years.

We salute you, Greenwood High School.
