Watch: The Moment Harvey Victims Break out in Song

Hurricane Harvey has left scenes of devastation and heartbreak splattered across the news. Millions of Texas residents have been at least temporarily displaced by the storm, and many have lost everything they’ve worked for.

However, even in these times of darkness, the people of Texas have shown the world that they aren’t going to let a hurricane crush their spirits. A video of a group of storm survivors singing praises in a shelter has gone absolutely viral on social media, Breitbart reported.

The video, which was taken at the Lone Star Convention and Expo Center in Conroe, Texas, which has served as an evacuation center, showed a group singing gospel songs.

It’s enough to give you goosebumps. These people may have lost their homes and their possessions, but here they are at an evacuation center, listening to their fellow Texans sing their hearts out, and moving along to the music.

The songs are primarily worship and praise of Jesus Christ. They are very positive and uplifting pieces of music — something everyone down in Texas could use a little bit more of.

It’s no wonder the video has gone viral. Despite being posted for only two days, the video has already received over 15 million views, and been shared over 415,000 times.

USA Today reported that the singers were performing a rendition of “Spirit Break Out.” CNN reported that the song leaders were named Victoria White and Marquist Taylor. The two were volunteers at the shelter, who luckily didn’t have their homes washed away by the flooding.

“I’m a Christian so we have a duty and assignment to love people every day no matter what their color, their background or race, and what they’re driven,” Taylor, the vice president of Others Outreach Missions, told CNN.

These are the sorts of things that give us hope that Texas is going to pull through this. There are countless stories of Texans helping complete strangers survive the storm.

The devastation may be immense, but the willpower and faith of the people of Texas is bigger. If Hurricane Harvey couldn’t break their spirits, nothing can.
