Since Donald Trump has been elected, he has been accused of being racist. But now, minorities that have worked for his companies are coming out and telling a different story about the President-Elect.
Lynn Patton, an African-American assistant to Donald Trump and Vice President at the Eric Trump Foundation stated in this video that, “To equate racism with my boss’ call for a temporary moratorium on a flawed immigration system that radical Islamic terrorists continue to exploit, or the construction of an impassible wall to protect our borders from the influx of illegal drugs is not only incendiary,” Patton says in the video. “It’s wholly irresponsible and only serves to embolden the very hatred these draconian groups espouse.”
Patton has seen first hand the level of the Trump family’s charitable giving as she was charged with overseeing the financial donations of the Trump charitable organizations.
Patton is from Alabama, where her father raised her. During the 1950s she saw the ugliness of real racism in the pre-Civil Rights era.
Having experienced this pain, she would have gotten as far away from Donald Trump as she could at even the hint of racism.
She believes that Trump’s plan to build a wall at the Mexican border is not racist at all. She also knows that Trump’s idea to stall immigration until we sort things out has nothing to do with racism.
In fact, to suggest that these policies are racist trivializes the real pain she and her father experienced in the 1950s. It also mocks the efforts by leaders like Dr. Martin Luther King to eliminate racist hate from this country.
Patton says that Trump’s family is her family and that she is devastated when she sees the violent protests and the threats against the Trump family. She takes these threats personally. She feels that this is just an election; this is no reason to threaten such a charitable family that has done nothing but support her through her struggles.
The racist accusations leveled against Donald Trump are categorically false and in fact, the Trump family has done more for minority families than Hillary Clinton or any other Democrat politician.
This more than just an election to African-Americans, this is about the opportunity to create new policies that will finally address their economic struggles. Donald Trump wants to get this economy going and help low-income families so that everyone has the opportunities that Patton did.
